Hi. My name is Jackie. I am 12 years old and I go to school at
Greenwood Elementary in Greenwood, Missouri. I am the only 12
year old that owns a business in Greenwood, and I am probably
the only kid trying to collect 1,000,000 aluminum cans.
To collect 1,000,000 cans, I have
divided my business into two parts. First, I have people from
all over the United States and foreign countries mail cans
to me. I call this part of my business the Mail-Me-A-Can Project.
I also collect cans in my area. I call this part of
my business the The Recycle Kansas City Cans Project.
If you live in
the Kansas City, Missouri, area you can read more about Jackie's
Cans towards the bottom of this page.
The Mail-Me-A-Can
Project
I began the Mail-Me-A-Can Project
after President Obama took office. Everyone was talking
about an "economic stimulus package" and I asked my
dad what that was. He told me how an economic stimulus
package worked. So, I started a business called Jackie's Cans.
Jackie's Cans helps the Post Office make money from
the sale of stamps, helps the environment stay cleaner and helps
recycling businesses recycle more aluminum.
I like the idea of running my own recycling business because I
think kids can make a difference too.
My Mail-Me-A-Can Project asks people to mail me their empty
aluminum cans so the US Postal Service can do better, so our
environment will be better, and so I can help others. Most
people use large yellow envelopes. Sometimes people mail me big
boxes of cans.
Since I have started my business I have been sent cans from people
all over the United States. I look forward to receiving
cans from you.
The Recycle Kansas City Cans Project
When people began hearing about my business they wanted to give
me their cans. This part of my business is called the Recycle
Kansas City Cans Project.
If you live in the Kansas City Metro Area and would like me to
